Wins 2003-04 Commissioner's Cup
AUGUSTA, GA
-- The University of North Florida won their fifth
straight Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup, given to the
most successful overall athletic program in the league's 12
championship sports. North Florida athletic director Dr.
Richard Gropper was presented with the award recently at the
league's annual meeting in Hilton Head, S.C. The Ospreys take
home the Cup following one of the most competitive seasons in PBC
history and by the narrowest margin in the 13-year history of the
league.
North Florida
won four PBC Championships, given for regular-season play,
during the year in women's cross country, volleyball, baseball and
men's tennis. UNF also had second-place finishes (including
ties) in women's basketball and women's soccer.
Overall, UNF claimed 81% of the places available to them,
using the PBC's percentage system for the cup, edging out Kennesaw
State who finished 6 one-thousanths of a point behind at
.806.
Kennesaw State took
home national championships in women's soccer and men's basketball,
firsts for the school and the Peach Belt Conference in both
sports. The Owls also won PBC titles in softball and men's
cross country.

*Numbers in
parentheses indicate maximum number of points that can be awarded
for each sport. Ratings are determined by taking the maximum number
of points available to each school, depending on how many sports
each has, and dividing by the number of points won, based on
conference finish through the regular season.
