NORTH GEORGIA WINS PBC 2009 SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT TITLE

After winning the PBC regular season title, top-seeded North Georgia defeated USC Aiken 4-0 to claim the 2009 PBC Softball Tournament Championship.  This was North Georgia's first ever tournament title.  The Saints received the PBC automatic bid for the 2009 NCAA Softball Tournament by capturing the conference championship and now will await word on seeding and location when the brackets are announced May 3. 

 


  CLAYTON STATE RALLIES TO WIN PBC MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

The Clayton State Lakers captured their first-ever PBC Golf Championship at the Little River Golf Club in Carthage, NC.  The Lakers rallied on the back nine to overcome Columbus State and GCSU to win by four strokes.  The Lakers were led by Wade Binfield who won the individual championship with a tournament total of six-under par. Fellow Laker and PBC Player of the Year Will Wilcox tied for second at five-under par.  A total of six PBC institutions were selected out of ten to compete in the NCAA Regional Tournament.  PBC Freshman of the Year Jordan Walor of UNCP will also advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament as an individual.   Click here for complete championship results and good luck to all PBC institutions and individuals competing in the NCAA Regional Tournament.         

 


 

AASU MEN AND WOMEN CAPTURE PBC TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES

The AASU Pirates claimed both the PBC Men's and Women's Tennis Championship Titles.  The top-ranked men defeated USC-Aiken in the finals.  USC-Aiken pulled off a first round upset by defeating PBC regular season champions GCSU, but were unable to contain the Pirates in the championship match.  On the women's side the AASU Lady Pirates claimed their 15th PBC regular season championship  and 6th consecutive title by defeating Francis Marion.

  PBC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS SET FOR MAY 9-10

The 2009 PBC Baseball Championship will take place at Roberto Hernandez Stadium on the USC-Aiken Campus May 9-10.  Visit the Official PBC Baseball Championship website for all championship information.  The single elimination championship will feature four quarterfinal games on Saturday, May 9 and semifinal and championship games on Sunday, May 10. USC-Aiken currently sits at the top of the standings, with GCSU and Francis Marion tied with the Pacers in the loss column.   ART, DANCE, CHEER, BAND AND HOOPS DOT PEACH BELT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MENU

The Peach Belt Conference was recently featured in the NCAA News for the PBC Art and Spirit Show Competition held in conjunction with the 2009 PBC Men's and Women's Basketball Championship.  Organized by the PBC Vice President of Student Affairs, the event is featured on the Division II Community Engagement "Ideas that Work" section as well. 

    

        


PBC INSTITUTIONS REMAIN ACTIVE IN PRODUCING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT/GAME ENVIRONMENT IDEAS AND PROGRAMS

Earlier this month, NCAA Division II hosted its third Community Engagement and Game Environment Workshop providing the chance for Division II administrators to discuss community engagement and game environment theories and ideas for implementation on campuses and in local communities.  The PBC has been active in producing multiple best practices on www.diicommunity.org.  Below is a sample of the community engagement and game environment activities that have taken place within the conference.
