CSU's Rutherford Featured on CBS College Sports' "Goin' Yard" Series

Columbus, GA - Columbus State's Rodney Rutherford has had an outstanding senior season for the Cougars. The third baseman enters South Atlantic Regional play with a .378 batting average and 26 home runs as he and his teammates try to earn a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Baseball Championship.

Rutherford attracted some national attention this week as Brody Logan and Jason Kerepesi of CBS College Sports (formerly CSTV) visited Ragsdale Field as part of their "Going Yard" series for the networks nightly sports program similar to ESPN's SportsCenter. The duo has traveled the country this year, visiting several campuses and reporting on college baseball stories for the series, which can be seen nightly on the network and also online. A day after visiting Columbus, Logan and Kerepesi visited Turner Field for the annual Georgia - Georgia Tech game.

The two personalities challenged Rutherford to the "First Annual Going Yard Home Run Derby" on Monday, and despite a strong wind blowing in at Ragsdale Field, Rutherford collected four clouts to shut out Logan and Kerepesi.
