GSW Adds a Dozen to 2010 Baseball Roster

AMERICUS, Ga. - Entering his sixth season at the helm for Georgia Southwestern State University baseball, Bryan McLain has announced his 2010 signing class.

"I am excited about this group of young men that make up our 2010 recruiting class," McLain said. "I think we were able to address the needs of the team and also pick up some outstanding freshman to build for the future. Hopefully with the addition of this group we will be much improved in 2010."

The 2010 Hurricane signing class features 12 players, including three transfers, three junior college players and six freshmen.

Clae Mathis, a sophomore first baseman out of Toccoa Falls College, is from Butler.

Paschal Poston, a junior catcher out of the University of Dallas, is from Jupiter, FL.

Travis Barrett, a junior right-handed pitcher out of Middle Georgia College, is from Bonaire.

Trent Dooley, a junior outfielder out of Darton College, is from Conyers.

Cory Hanes, a junior left-handed pitcher out of Brookdale Community College, is from Eatontown, FL.

Joseph Altman, a catcher out of Telfair County High School, is from Helena.

Corey Benson, a third baseman and outfielder out of South Gwinnett High School, is from Loganville.

Michael Coffey, a catcher out of Dublin High School, is from Dublin, GA.

Jacob Ezell, a right-handed pitcher and shortstop out of Warner Robins High School, is from Bonaire.

Daniel Lackey, a right-handed pitcher out of Stanhope Elmore High School, is from Deatsville, AL.

Caleb Sheppard, a outfielder from Fitzgerald High School, is from Fitzgerald.



Fall Ball

The Hurricanes wrap up fall practice with the 10th annual Blue/White series, an inter-squad best-of-three games competition, scheduled for October 26, 27 and 28 (if necessary).

The regular season begins February 5, with a home series against Barry University.
