Maas, Bader and Barkell Named Baseball Players of the Week
Player of the Week
Cody Maas, Georgia College

Maas was a run-producing machine in four games last week, hitting .421 with four doubles, a home run and 12 RBIs. The junior had multiple hits in three of the four games, starting with a 2-for-5 outing with three RBIs against West Georgia. He then hit .429 in a three-game series at Augusta State, driving in four runs in each of the first two games. He doubled twice in the opener, then hit a three-run home run in game two. He drove in another run in the series finale, giving him at least one RBI in all four games. He also scored five times and had a .789 slugging percentage. Maas is third in the PBC in home runs and RBIs.
Pitcher of the Week
Ethan Bader, Armstrong
Soph. • RHP • Jacksonville, Fla.
Bader hurled a four-hit shutout, striking out 11 in Armstrong's 2-0 win at Flagler on Saturday, capping a three-game sweep of the Saints and moving the Pirates into first place in the PBC's East Division. The sophomore retired the first 12 batters in order to start the game before getting out of a two-on, no-out jam in the fifth. He only allowed two runners to reach second base the entire game. Bader recorded his PBC-leading ninth win of the season with his first complete game and first shutout as a Pirate. He also lead the league in strikeouts and innings pitched.
Freshman of the Week
Ty Barkell, USC Aiken

Barkell led the Pacers last week with a .529 batting average (9-for-17). He finished four games last week with six RBIs and three runs scored. The freshman claimed multiple hits in three of four games. He was 4-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored in game two win over UNC Pembroke and had two home runs in the game. He slugged .882 and had an on-base percentage of .556 for the week, scoring three runs. Has hit safely in six straight games and hasn't been struck out in eight straight.
