ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA – The Peach Belt Conference released the 2019 baseball All-Conference team at a banquet in St. Augustine, Fla., on the eve of the PBC Tournament.  UNC Pembroke's Ethan Baucom was named the PBC Player of the Year while Georgia Southwestern's Tucker Smith was tabbed the Pitcher of the Year.  Georgia College's Cam Hill was the Freshman of the Year and North Georgia's Tom Cantrell the PBC Coach of the Year.

Baucom had a remarkable 2019 season, hitting .306 with 20 home runs and 71 RBIs.  The junior outfielder from Rockingham, N.C., leads NCAA Division II in RBIs and he is fourth in the nation in home runs.  The PBC Player of the Week on March 11, he also leads the PBC in total bases, runs scored and slugging percentage.  Baucom had a four-game home run streak and hit round-trippers in six of seven games during the season.  He also had eight straight multiple-RBI games.  He becomes the second Brave to ever be named the PBC Player of the Year, joining Collins Cuthrell in 2015.

Tucker Smith is the first Georgia Southwestern State baseball player to ever win any of the PBC's major awards.  A junior from Fort Walton Beach, Fla., his 16 starts in 2019 is tied for second-most in NCAA Division II.  He leads the PBC in complete games and is tied for the league lead in wins.  Smith is 8-3 on the season with a 2.12 ERA in 106.0 innings of work with 83 strikeouts.  He leads the PBC in ERA and innings and is fourth in strikeouts.  He threw five complete games, three in league play, which is more than double any other PBC pitcher and tied for fifth-most in DII.

Cam Hill was named the PBC Freshman of the Week a record six times in 2019.  An outfielder from Marietta, Ga., he is eighth in the PBC with a .355 batting average and among the league's top 15 in triples, stolen bases, on-base percentage and sacrifice flies.   He is one of 15 PBC players to finish the regular season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and only four of those players had more total chances than he did.  Hill becomes the second Bobcat to be named the Freshman of the Year, the first was Wesley Wommack in 2016.

Tom Cantrell guided the Nighthawks to at least a share of their third PBC regular-season championship in the last five years.  In his 19thseason at North Georgia, Cantrell's Nighthawks are the highest-ranked PBC team in the NCAA region polls and were nationally-ranked by the NCBWA three times this year.    His 2019 team is ranked among the league's top three in hits, home runs, total bases, slugging percentage and sacrifices.  Cantrell claims the Coach of the Year honor for the fourth time in his career, and his third in the last five years.

The 2019 All-Conference team is listed below as selected by the league's head coaches.  Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
