Mar 2, 2008 PBC Releases Men's Basketball Tournament Bracket AUGUSTA, GA. – The Peach Belt Conference released the 2008
men’s basketball tournament bracket on Sunday following the
conclusion of the regular season. USC Aiken, the tournament host,
will be the #1 seed when play begins on Wednesday.
The Pacers finished 19-1 in league play, winning their first
regular-season championship since the 1992-93 season. USCA will
take the floor on Friday, March 7, at 7:00.
Augusta State is the #2 seed and also earn a first-round bye. GCSU
is #3 with North Georgia #4 and Armstrong Atlantic State #5.
Columbus State is #6 after winning a tiebreak over Clayton State,
who will be the #7 seed. The Cougars swept the Lakers in their two
regular-season meetings. The advantage for CSU is significant since
the top six seeds do not have to play until Friday, while Clayton
State will take the court on Wednesday at 5:00 in the first
men’s game of the tournament.
Francis Marion takes the #8 seed in a tiebreaker over Lander, who
will be #9. The Patriots won two big games last week to move up and
claim the tiebreak thanks to their overtime win at Armstrong
Atlantic State last Wednesday. FMU and Lander will face each other
in the other men’s game on Wednesday. UNC Pembroke is the #10
seed.
The tournament will begin on Wednesday, March 5, and continue to
the championship game on Sunday, March , at 4:30.
