UNCP's Tinsley Contract Not Renewed

PEMBROKE – Athletic department officials announced Thursday morning that the University of North Carolina at Pembroke will not renew the contract of head men’s basketball coach Jason Tinsley for the 2008-09 season. The University will begin its search for a new coach immediately.

Tinsley, who joined the UNCP staff as an assistant coach for the 2003-04 men’s basketball campaign, took over as head coach of the Black and Gold prior to the 2004-05 season. The Braves finished the 2007-08 slate on Wednesday with an 8-20 record following a last-minute loss to Clayton State in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
