North Carolina Prep Standout to Join ASU Men’s Basketball Program

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State head men’s basketball coach Dip Metress announced his first signee of the spring signing period.

Keshun Sherrill, a 5-10 point guard from Cleveland, N.C., has signed a national letter-of-intent with the Jaguars and will enroll at ASU for the fall, 2012 semester.

As a senior at West Rowan High School in Mount Ulla, N.C., Sherrill averaged 21 points per game and was named the Rowan County and North Piedmont Conference Player of the Year. During his prep career, he scored 1,907 points and helped lead the Falcons to 80 victories.

“A lot of little guards have hung big banners at Augusta State,” Metress said. “Keshun is one heck of a player for us to get. He’s a true point guard, but he’s a point who can score.”

The Jags are expected to return four starters and seven lettermen from last season’s 17-11 squad that advanced to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinals.
