UNC Pembroke Adds Morahan to Signing Class

PEMBROKE, N.C. -- UNC Pembroke men’s golf coach David Synan has announced the signing of Charlie Morahan of Somerset, England to a national letter of intent for the 2007-08 season.

“Charlie is a great young golfer with a huge upside and a very smooth swing,” said Synan. “We will look for him to come in and contribute immediately to our program.”

Morahan, a product of the International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head Island, S.C., qualified for the 2006 British Boys International shooting a 144 over two rounds while also finishing tied for eighth at the 2006 National South of England Boys tournament.

The Somerset under-18 junior golf team captain since 2003, Morahan won the Somerset Junior Championship this past year while also taking home first in the Mendip Men’s Open.

He is the son of Joanna and Andy Morahan. His sister, Rosie, is on the University of Wisconsin swim team and competes in the breaststroke, freestyle and individual medley.
