Former CSU Golfer Ries Earns 2008 Sunshine Tour Card

Christian Ries, a former Columbus State golfer, has earned his 2008 Sunshine Tour card with a four-day total of 1-under 287 at the Sunshine Tour Qualifying School (Country Club Johannesburg, South Africa) in late December. Ries fired rounds of 68-76-72-71 to claim one of 42 cards for the 2008 season.

Ries, who played four seasons for the Cougars, captured his lone title in a Cougar uniform by winning the 2007 Division II individual national championship last spring in Michigan. Ries recorded 27 top 10 finishes and finished his career with a 73.65 scoring average for the Cougars.

Ries will make his Sunshine Tour debut in one of the January events in South Africa.
