Men's Soccer Daily Update - Nov. 1 - Tournament Seeds Released

The 2008 regular season came to an end on Saturday and set the table for the 2008 PBC Tournament as the final seeds have been determined.

Francis Marion captured the 2008 regulars season Championship, the #1 seed for the tournament and a first-round bye with their 3-1 win over Lander on Saturday.  Read a complete game release here.  The loss for Lander dropped them into a tie with idle Clayton State and Lander drops the tiebreaker to fall to the #3 seed.

North Georgia picked up the #4 seed and a first-round home game with a 3-0 win at Georgia Southwestern.  Terry Gibbs had a goal and two assists while Jose Herrera and Avram Allen each added a goal for the Saints.  The loss dropped GSW into a tie with USCA, but GSW wins the tiebreak thanks to their 1-0 win over Pacers earlier this season and take the #6 seed.  GSW will travel to Lander on Tuesday.

UNC Pembroke wrapped up the day with a frosty 2-1 win at USC Aiken to get the #5 seed. Andy Pullin scored the first Braves goal just after the game began and Zach Rowell had the game-winner later in the half as all three goals were scored in the first.  UNCP will travel to North Georgia on Tuesday with USC Aiken heading to Clayton State.

The final tournament schedule is below.  First-round games will be hosted by the higher seed.  Winners of the three first-round games will join #1 Francis Marion in Evans, Ga., at Blanchard Woods Park for the semfinals and finals Nov. 7-9.  More information about the tournament in Evans can be found here.
