Nov 1, 2008 Men's Soccer Daily Update - Nov. 1 - Tournament Seeds Released The 2008 regular season came to an end on Saturday and set the
table for the 2008 PBC Tournament as the final seeds have been
determined.
Francis Marion captured the 2008 regulars season Championship,
the #1 seed for the tournament and a first-round bye with their 3-1
win over Lander on Saturday. Read a complete game release here.
The loss for Lander dropped them into a tie with idle Clayton State
and Lander drops the tiebreaker to fall to the #3 seed.
North Georgia picked up the #4 seed and a first-round home game
with a 3-0 win at Georgia Southwestern. Terry Gibbs had a
goal and two assists while Jose Herrera and Avram Allen each added
a goal for the Saints. The loss dropped GSW into a tie with
USCA, but GSW wins the tiebreak thanks to their 1-0 win over Pacers
earlier this season and take the #6 seed. GSW will travel to
Lander on Tuesday.
UNC Pembroke wrapped up the day with a frosty 2-1 win at USC
Aiken to get the #5 seed. Andy Pullin scored the first Braves goal
just after the game began and Zach Rowell had the game-winner later
in the half as all three goals were scored in the first. UNCP
will travel to North Georgia on Tuesday with USC Aiken heading to
Clayton State.
The final tournament schedule is below. First-round games
will be hosted by the higher seed. Winners of the three
first-round games will join #1 Francis Marion in Evans, Ga., at
Blanchard Woods Park for the semfinals and finals Nov. 7-9.
