UNC Pembroke Releases 2012 Men's Soccer Recruiting Class

PEMBROKE – UNC Pembroke men's soccer head coach Phil Hindson has announced the signing of six in-state products, another from Massachusetts and two international players as part of the nine-member 2012 UNCP men's soccer signing class released Monday.

The class of seven midfielders, one defender and two goalkeepers marks the third recruiting class since Hindson took over the tradition-rich program in 2010. Seven of the eight recruits begin with the Braves having just graduated high school, while one transfer comes to the squad with collegiate soccer experience at another institution.

"The addition of this group will strengthen our team in all areas," Hindson said. "There is a lot of versatility in this class which will add to the competitiveness for places in the starting lineup.  We are all very excited for preseason to arrive."

The Braves will open up their 2012 campaign on the road against Mount Olive on August 30 before opening up their two-game home stand with a September 1 battle against South Atlantic Conference champion, Anderson at 7 p.m. at Varsity Grounds. Admission to all home soccer games is free.
