Andreassen scores twice as Mountain Lions shut out Limestone 2-0 in second round

GAFFNEY, S.C. | Seba Andreassen and Alex Jacq teamed up to score twice as Young Harris College defeated No. 7 Limestone College 2-0 in the second round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship on a crisp Saturday (Nov. 11) afternoon at Saints Field.

The fourth-seeded Mountain Lions, who are 6-0-0 all-time against Limestone, improved to 13-3-2, while the top-seeded Saints saw their season end for the third time in the past four seasons by the Mountain Lions as Limestone fell to 15-3-2. Young Harris will play the winner of Sunday's (Nov. 12) second round match between Lander University and Wingate University next week in the third round. It is the third time in the last four seasons that the Mountain Lions have reached the third round of the tournament.

The teams battled through a scoreless first half until the Mountain Lions scored with four seconds remaining. Jacq had a free run down the right wing and crossed the ball to Andreassen at the far post. Andreassen then headed the ball into the right corner of the net to give YHC a 1-0 lead.

The Mountain Lions had a chance to double their lead in the 68th minute, but Marco Micaletto's free kick from 20 yards out ricocheted off the right post. Young Harris added the insurance goal it was looking for 12 minutes later as Jacq played a through ball down the center of the field to Andreassen, who finished the shot in the bottom right hander corner for his fifth strike of 2017.

Limestone had a 14-11 edge on shots, but the Mountain Lions held an advantage on shots on goal 7-3. YHC also had a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. Alex Iglesias had seven saves in goal for the Mountain Lions as he notched his seventh shutout of the season, including his second straight in the NCAA tournament.
