Nov 27, 2007 Seven PBC Men's Tennis Teams Ranked in Top 40 Seven Peach Belt Conference men's tennis teams have been ranked
in the nation's top 40 in the final fall tennis poll released by
the ITA. Armstrong Atlantic State is #4 in the poll while
Lander comes in at #8. USC Aiken (18), Augusta State (19),
GCSU (20), Francis Marion (25) and Columbus State (26) are also
ranked.
The ITA also ranked the top 50 singles players and top 25
doubles teams in the nation. 10 PBC players were on the
singles list while six doubles teams were also ranked.
Armstrong Atlantic State, who won both the PBC Championship and PBC
Tournament last spring, had five singles players ranked among the
top 50. Robert Jendelund is ranked 8th in the nation among
singles while teammates Paul Bishop comes in 15th and Rafael Array
16th. Christian Bergh and Davor Zink are also ranked.
GCSU's Erick Siqueira is ranked 13th while USC Aiken's Dagoberto
Darezzo is 19th.
Darezzo and teammate Edward Horne are the highest-ranked doubles
team in the PBC, coming in second in the nation after a strong fall
season. The Lander team of Ivarsson and Willers is 10th while
Francis Marion's Emmanuel and Wijimanne are 11th.
