May 12, 2008 14 PBC Softball Players Named All-Region AUGUSTA, GA -- Fourteen Peach Belt Conference softball players
were named to the South Atlantic All-Region team by the National
Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) just prior to the NCAA
Regional tournament. An amazing nine of those were named to the
first team and are now eligible for All-America consideration.
PBC Champions UNC Pembroke had three players make the first team
while Francis Marion, who won the NCAA Regional, had two first-team
players and one on the second team. GCSU had two players on the
first team, including PBC Player of the Year Sherquita Bostick,
while North Georgia and Augusta State also had a pair. USC
Aiken’s Jessica Strickland was named first-team catcher.
The All-America team will be announced just prior to the start of
the national championships.
