Jul 21, 2009 Lander Adds Three More for 2009-10 Softball Season GREENWOOD – Lander softball coach Brandon Duncan today
announced the signing of three more players for the 2009-10
academic year. Added to the roster are junior college players
Rachelle Adkins, a catcher from Newnan, Ga., and Lindsey Blackwell,
a middle infielder from Milledgeville, Ga., along with freshman
Casey Corbitt, a middle infielder from West Columbia, S.C.
“All three of these young ladies add to an already solid
recruiting class,” said Duncan.
Adkins, a recent graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College
(ABAC), spent her prep career at Northgate High School.
“Rachelle is a great fit for our program,” said Duncan,
“I expect her to come in and immediately challenge for a role
in our battery. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience
both behind the plate and offensively.”
Blackwell graduated from Georgia Military College and John Milledge
Academy.
“Lindsey is a solid shortstop and hits the ball extremely
well,” added Duncan. “ Her experiences at GMC will do
nothing but help our program.”
Corbitt comes to Lander as a freshman straight out of
Brookland-Cayce High School.
“She played for a well-coached high school program and
currently plays for one the best travel ball coaches in the state.
She played her high school state final on Doug Spears Field and we
are thrilled that she will play many more games there over the next
four years."
