ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Flagler College head softball coach Kristen Overton announced the signing of six players, Tuesday afternoon. Katelyn Guinsler (Williston, Fla./Central Florida CC), Tori Jolley (Keystone Heights, Fla./Keystone Heights HS), Kayla Kalbaugh (Reddick, Fla./Central Florida CC), Brandy Luke (Orlando, Fla./Indian River State College), Stacy Piagno (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) and Kelly Riddick (Hampton, Fla./Central Florida CC) will join the Saints in the fall of 2009.

Guinsler, a catcher, lettered two years at Central Florida CC in Ocala. She batted .278 with seven home runs and 44 runs batted in for her career. This past season, she was named second-team All-Mid-Florida Conference after helping lead the Lady Patriots to a 33-23 overall record. Guinsler batted .292 with 52 hits, 16 doubles, five home runs, 29 RBI and 27 runs scored.

Jolley, an infielder, was a third-team Class 3A Miracle Sports All-State selection as well as an All-Area honoree by the Gainesville Sun out of Keystone Heights High. She batted .325 with five doubles, two home runs and had a .505 on base percentage and helped lead the Indians to a Class 3A regional final for the third time in her four-year career.

Kalbaugh, and outfielder/first baseman, follows CFCC teammates Guinsler and Kelly Riddick to Flagler. She played in 114 games in her two-year stint with the Lady Patriots and tallied 92 hits, 24 doubles, collected 30 RBI and batted .280. Kalbaugh hit .327 with 56 hits, 15 doubles and 19 RBI as a freshman.

Luke, an outfielder/first baseman, lettered two years at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce for Coach Overton’s father, Dale Atkinson. She played in 108 games and collected 13 RBI in her stint at IRSC. Luke helped lead The River to a 46-9 overall record and 15-2 record and the Southern Conference regular season title.

Piagno will come in as a utility player. Unlike the rest of the incoming class, Piagno comes to Flagler with a baseball background. She spent the past season as a pitcher for Pedro Menendez High and was on of its most consistent hurlers. Piagno was also one of the final cuts on the Team USA’s Women’s Baseball roster.

Riddick, a pitcher, joins CFCC teammates Guinsler and Kalbaugh at Flagler. In 67 career appearances she recorded a 1.55 earned run average, tallied 30 wins and registered 403 strike outs. In 2009, Riddick earned All-FCCAA second-team honors and was an All-Mid-Florida Conference first-team selection. She ranked fifth nationally in strike outs per seven innings with 1.346. Riddick posted an 18-8 record for the Lady Patriots with 240 strike outs and a 1.30 ERA in 34 appearances.

Flagler finished 2009 with a record of 18-31 in its inaugural season of fast-pitch softball. The Saints return all of their starters, but will have seven seniors on the 2010 roster. Flagler will also be making its debut in the Peach Belt Conference, in all sports, starting this fall.
