ASU Volleyball Lands Local Transfer

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State head volleyball coach Sharon Bonaventure announced Thursday the second addition to her recruiting class.

Lagi (pronounced Lonnie) Roberts, a 5-8 outside hitter from Columbus, Ga., will join the Jaguar volleyball program for the Fall, 2009 semester.

A prep standout at Columbus High School, Roberts spent her freshman season at Paine (Ga.) College in Augusta. She will have three years of eligibility remaining.

She was an All-State selection and named both a Senior All-Star and the Player-Of-The-Year for CHS at the conclusion of her senior season. She helped lead the Blue Devils to a fourth-place finish in the Class AAA State Playoffs.

Bonaventure was named the eighth head coach in the 24-year history of the ASU Volleyball program on April 23, 2009. She welcomes a returning nucleus that features 11 letterwinners and five starters, including two-time, All-Peach Belt Conference performer Jessica Howard.
