Flagler Wins PBC Volleyball Regular-Season Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Meg Weathersby (Maitland, Fla./Orangewood Christian) recorded 32 kills and added 12 digs as Flagler College won a pair of volleyball matches Friday night at Flagler Gym.

Flagler won the opener over UNC Pembroke 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-23) to win the Peach Belt Conference regular season title in its first year in the league. Flagler improved its conference mark to 12-1 with one match to play.

Weathersby racked up 15 kills and committed just one attack error on 21 swings to lead the Saints. Katie Beale (Stuart, Fla./Martin County HS) contributed nine kills and eight digs. Olivia Snipes (Easley, S.C./Easley HS) tallied 17 assists while Rebecca Royal (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Fleming Island HS) added 14 more.

Tiara Anderson led UNC Pembroke (11-19 overall, 2-11 PBC) with seven kills and .400 for the match. Andrea Laza recorded six digs and became the PBC’s all-time leader in that category. She passed Francis Marion’s Jessica Strader who collected 2,248 digs from 2003-06. Laza needed just three to pass Strader. Sam Wylie and Morgan Ridge each tallied 10 assists.
