Dec 8, 2009 Flagler Volleyball Ranked 22nd in Final Poll LEXINGTON, Ky. – The final American Volleyball Coaches
Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches Top 25 poll was released
today (Dec. 7) and Flagler College was ranked No. 22. The last time
Flagler was ranked by the AVCA was during the 2003 season.
Flagler (36-9), a national semifinalist, received a total of 131
points and was the only Southeast Region team to be ranked. Wingate
University received votes for the Top 25 but only garnered 224
points.
Flagler becomes the first Peach Belt Conference team to be
placed in the top 25 since North Florida in 2004.
Three-time national champion Concordia University of St. Paul,
Minn. (37-0), received all 32 first-place votes to top the poll.
National semifinalist California State University, San Bernardino
(33-2) placed second with 765 points. National runners-up West
Texas A&M University (38-4) finished third with 736 points.
National quarterfinalist, the University of Tampa (31-3) and the
University of Central Missouri (34-5) rounded out the top five.
National quarterfinalists, the University of Indianapolis (38-2)
and California University of Pennsylvania (35-6) placed sixth and
23rd, respectively. Dowling College received votes.
