UGUSTA, Ga. --
Several Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball players
have received post-season recognition from different organizations
following a very successful 2006-07 season. Lander’s Tiara
Good, the PBC Player of the Year, was named both first-team
Daktronics All-Region and a finalist for the WBCA/Kodak All-America
team. Armstrong Atlantic State’s Kaneetha Gordon was also
placed on both lists, earning second-team Daktronics honors while
being a WBCA finalist. GCSU’s Marquita Driskell was also
named Daktronics first team while Lander’s Stephanie Ponds
was placed on the second team. USC Aiken’s Mindy Allee was
named WBCA/Kodak finalist.
Good led the Lady Bearcats to a 15-13 regular season record,
finishing third in the North Division at 9-7. Selected as the 2007
Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year, Good led the league in
scoring at 21.9 points per game, while pulling down 7.2 rebounds
and dishing out a league-leading 6.3 assists per game. Good scored
at least 20 points 15 times during the season.
The Peach Belt Conference's leader in rebounding, Gordon
averaged 15.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game in 2006-07 and
currently ranks seventh in NCAA Division II in rebounding. She is
the fourth AASU player in the last five years to earn WBCA
All-Region honors.
The WBCA All-America team will be released on March 20 just
prior to the start of the NCAA Elite Eight. The Daktronics
All-America team will be released on or about the same day.
