PBC Women's Basketball Featured in NCAA Statistics

The NCAA has released its second weekly statistical rankings and Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball is featured prominently. All 10 eligible PBC teams (Georgia Southwestern is not eligible for ranking due to their provisional status) are ranked in either a top 50 individual or top 25 team category.

The name that pops up again and again is Lander’s Tiara Good. The 2007 PBC Player of the Year is in the top 50 in scoring (10th), free throw percentage (43rd), 3-point percentage (11th) and 3-pointers per game (2nd). North Georgia’s Syretha Marble is also ranked in multiple categories like scoring (12th), rebounding (41st) and field goal percentage (26th).

The Peach Belt Conference is also home to the nations leader in steals: Francis Marion’s Kevina Ransom. Ransom set a school record with 11 swipes in Saturday’s win over Georgia Southwestern and is averaging a Division II-best 5.3 steals per game. USC Aiken’s Morgan Johnson is currently second in the land in field-goal percentage, shooting 66.3 from the floor.

But its not just individuals who are ranked, PBC teams are faring just as well. The PBC is home to three of the top 10 scoring offenses in all of Division II, including the top two. Francis Marion stands at the top with an eye-popping 95.9 points per game, just ahead of second-ranked Lander at 91.0. North Georgia is 10th at 79.9.

Thanks in large part to Ransom’s efforts, Francis Marion is also the national leader in steals with 22.8 per game. USC Aiken currently leads the country in assists with 21.0 per game (Lander is fourth and FMU 8th in assists as well).

Below is the extensive list of all individuals ranked in the top 50 and all teams in the top 25 of the NCAA National Rankings through games of Jan. 6. The NCAA updates the list each week on Monday afternoon and can be seen here.
