PBC Releases Women's Basketball All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, GA -- The Peach Belt Conference has released the 2007-08 women’s basketball All-Conference team on the eve of the PBC Tournament. Lander’s Tiara Good was named the PBC Player of the Year for the second straight season while Dominique Huffin of Georgia College & State University was named the Freshman of the Year. Francis Marion’s Heather Macy was selected as the Coach of the Year.

Good becomes the first women’s basketball player to win the Player of the Year award in back-to-back seasons since Francis Marion’s Jennifer Brabson in 1997-98 and 98-99. A senior from Jonesville, S.C., Good was the second-leading scorer in the Peach Belt Conference this year with 20.4 ppg as Lander was the second-highest scoring team in the nation. She was also second in the league in three-pointers made and free throw percentage. She scored 20 or more points 16 times and scored a season-high 37 points against GCSU. She also had five double-doubles and averaged 5.7 rebounds per game.

Dominique Huffin led Georgia College & State University and was ninth in the PBC with 13.8 ppg this year. The freshman from Tucker, Ga., played in all 27 games for the Lady Bobcats, making 17 starts and leading the team in scoring in 11 games. Huffin burst onto the scene in January when she scored 41 points against Lander, the sixth-highest single game point total in PBC history. She scored 20 or more seven times this season. Huffin becomes the first Lady Bobcat to ever win the Freshman of the Year award.

Heather Macy is at the helm of one of the most dramatic turnarounds in NCAA Division II history. In only her first year as the head coach at Francis Marion, Macy took a team that collected six wins the previous year and led them to a 20-7 overall record and a share of the PBC Championship. Coach Macy’s team has led all of Division II in scoring offense for the bulk of the season with a 90.9 point-per-game average which will break the PBC season average record. Francis Marion is currently ranked in the top-25 and atop the South Atlantic Region and are the #1 seed for the PBC Tournament.

The 2007-08 women’s basketball All-Conference team is listed below as selected by the league’s head coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
