Dec 10, 2009 Lang-Montgomery lands first recruit at Flagler ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Flagler College Head Women’s
Basketball Coach Erika Lang-Montgomery announced the signing of her
first recruit, Ebonee Bell of Olathe, Kan., and Olathe South High
School. She is also the first recruit to sign with Flagler in the
early signing period.
“I am excited Ebonee has made the decision to join the
Flagler women’s basketball family,” said
Lang-Montgomery. “I have had the pleasure of knowing Ebonee
the past three years. She exemplifies the type of
student–athlete I want here to build this program.”
Bell is a 5-foot-4 guard who captained last year’s team as a
junior and averaged 8.8 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.5
rebounds per game. She was a first-team All-Olathe and second-team
All-Sunflower League selection in 2008-09. Bell finished in the top
12 in assists and helped lead the Falcons to a second place finish
at the Kansas Class 6A State Championships. As a sophomore, she
helped lead the Falcons to a third place finish at the state
championships and earned first-team All-Olathe and second-team
All-Sunflower League honors. In her two seasons playing for the
Falcons, Bell has helped lead the team to a 43-7 record.
“Ebonee is a leader on and off the court and I will need her
to bring those attributes to Flagler next season,” said
Lang-Montgomery. “She has great court vision along with the
ability to get to the basket as well as knock down the open
3-pointer. Ebonee will add depth at our point guard position and I
look forward to coaching her for four years.”
Flagler, a NCAA Division II member, has started the 2009-10 season
with a 5-2 record and are less than a month away from opening Peach
Belt Conference play for the first time. Flagler has spent the past
four seasons playing as an independent.
