Clayton Native To Join Lady Braves Golf Program
PEMBROKE – UNCP head golf coach David
Synan has announced the addition of transfer Lizzie Bundy to his
women’s golf program starting in the fall.
“We are excited about Lizzie joining the UNCP golf family
this fall” said Synan. “She will be an important part
of our team’s continued success.”
Bundy spent last season as a member of the women’s golf
squad at UNC Greensboro and earned Southern Conference All-Freshman
team honors after posting an 80.44 stroke average in 10 events. She
was also named to the 2011 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA)
All-American Scholar team after recording a 3.70 grade point
average in communication studies as a freshman at UNCG.
Prior to her time in Greensboro, Bundy was a three-time Greater
Neuse River 4-A Conference Player of the Year as well as a
four-time all-conference and all-region selection for Clayton High
School. She finished in the top five at the North Carolina 4A state
high school championship on three occasions and garnered runner-up
finishes at the 4A Eastern Regional in 2008 and 2009. She was
ranked sixth in the Carolina Golf Association rankings and placed
second in both the Big “I” National Tournament in
Ardmore, Okla., and the 2009 North Carolina Junior Championship
during her time as a prep. She was also a member of the
Carolinas Golf Aassocation and Tarheel Youth Golf
Assocation’s North Carolina All-State First Team in 2009 and
a member of the second team in 2008.
She is the daughter of Maureen and Alan Bundy and plans to major
in mass communications and journalism at UNCP.
