Motes, Olarte and Beck Named PBC Golfers of the Week
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Matt Motes, Armstrong
Sr., Augusta, Ga.
Motes was the PBC's top finisher at the prestigious Matlock
Collegiate Classic in Lakeland, Fla. He carded a
three-under-par 69 and a two-under-par 70, his two lowest rounds of
the year so far, among his three rounds to finish in sixth place
individually with a two-under-par 214 total, just five shots out of
the lead. He has now finished in the Top 10 in four of his
five tournaments of the year and is fourth in the Peach Belt with a
72.5 stroke average.

co-Women’s Golfer of the Week
Catalina Olarte, North Georgia
Jr., Manizales, Colombia
Olarte finished tied with Montevallo’s Ashlee Beck for
seventh place at the Coastal Georgia Invitational on Tuesday.
The junior fired rounds of 83 and 80 to finish at 163, seven shots
out of the lead. The top-10 finish is the third this season
for Olarte as has been the low Saint scorer in every tournament so
far this season. She is 14th in the PBC in stroke average and
has more rounds played than anyone in the top 15. She becomes
the first North Georgia golfer, men or women, to ever be named a
PBC Golfer of the Week.

Ashlee Beck, Montevallo
Fr., Athens, Ala.
Beck continued her outstanding freshman campaign this week with in
a tie for seventh place alongside North Georgia’s Catalina
Olarte at the Coastal Georgia Invitational. The true freshman
shot rounds of 82 and 81 for a 163, seven strokes out of first
place. The top-10 finish was her third of the year and
lowered her stroke average to 79.6, ninth lowest in the Peach Belt
Conference. She previously won the Montevallo Intercollegiate
and had another top-10 at the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate.
She becomes the first UM women’s golfer of the week since
Emily Gibson in 2010.
