WINDERMERE, Fla. – Katy Flax and Casey Burroughs both turned in a 6-over-par 78 in Tuesday's final round to help the UNC Pembroke golf team inch up the leaderboard into 13th place at the Rollins-hosted Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in Windermere, Fla. North Georgia finished four strokes back in 14th.
Senior Alexandria Bare (+16) led the way for the Black & Gold by finishing in a tie for 35th place, while Flax (+17) built on the momentum from Monday's late round to finish among a five-way tie for 38th place. Casey Burroughs (+18) shared 68th place with one other player, while newcomers Amanda Hamrin (+29) and Parker Melting both finished in a tie for 70th place.
Tenth-ranked Florida Tech (+4) combined to shoot a 10-under-par 278 and finished 14 strokes ahead of the rest of a 15-team field that featured nine top-25 squads. The Braves (+83) used a strong round on Tuesday to edge out Peach Belt Conference foe North Georgia (+87) for 13th place among the stacked field.
Megan Sabol finished in a tie for 22nd place after a final-round 76 as North Georgia moved up one spot in the final round of the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational Tuesday.
Sabol birdied the fourth and eighth holes in the final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 226, the second-best 54-hole total in program history.
