GCSU, Columbus State Receive Soccer Team Academic Awards

Georgia College & State University and Columbus State University were among the 406 soccer teams to receive the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2005-06 academic year. To earn the award, the team had to post a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. GCSU finished the term with a 3.22 average while Columbus State had a 3.06. The two were the only Peach Belt teams, men's and women's to be recognized. The NSCAA honored 406 total soccer teams from all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA (111 men, 295 women).

For GCSU, the Lady Bobcats finished the season 13-5, their best record ever, and advanced to the semifinal round of the PBC Tournament.

Likewise, Columbus State had their best year ever after going 20-3-2 and reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. CSU won their second consecutive PBC Championship and PBC Tournament in 2007.
