FLORENCE, S.C. – On the eve of the PBC Tournament in Florence, S.C., the Peach Belt Conference revealed the 2017 women's tennis All-Conference team.  Armstrong State's Lena Lutzeier was named the PBC Player of the Year for the second straight season.  Columbus State's Beatriz Lopez was named the PBC Freshman of the Year while her coach, Evan Isaacs was named Coach of the Year.

Lutzeier finished her third straight season going unbeaten in conference competition.  A junior from Blaustein, Germany, she went 21-1 at #1 singles and was named the PBC Player of the Week four times.  Ranked #5 in the nation, she collected eight singles wins over nationally-ranked opponents.  In doubles, she and partner Diana Stomlega are ranked #3 in the nation with a 16-1 mark, all at #1 doubles and four wins over nationally-ranked teams.  Lutzeier keeps the PBC Player of the Year award at Armstrong State for the 21st time, becoming the eighth player to win in back-to-back seaons.

Beatriz Lopez exploded onto the PBC women's tennis scene in 2017, going 14-2 in singles play, 9-0 against PBC opponents and 11-1 at #3 singles.  From Murcia, Spain, she is ranked #10 in the region and #43 in the nation and has a win over a nationally-ranked opponent.  In doubles the team of Lopez and Beatriz Leon is ranked #5 in the nation with a 13-3 mark at #1 doubles, including a 7-1 mark against conference opponents.  Lopez is the fourth Cougar to be named the PBC Freshman of the Year, the first since her doubles partner Leon captured the honor in 2014.

The 2017 season for head coach Evan Isaacs has been one of the high points of his 16-year tenure at Columbus State.  The Cougars are ranked #7 in the nation with a 19-2 overall record and were undefeated in conference play for the first time since 2008.  CSU is the PBC regular-season champion for the first time since sharing the honor in 2006 and are the top seed in the PBC Tournament.  Columbus State broke Armstrong State's 14-year, 154-match conference winning streak this season, one of their five wins over nationally-ranked teams.  Isaacs, who was also named the PBC men's tennis Coach of the Year on Thursday, wins the women's award for the first time.

The 2017 All-Conference team is listed below as selected by the league's head coaches.  Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
