Cox Announces Addition of Diedrich

AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball head coach Glenn Cox announced the addition of Ashley Diedrich to a National-Letter-of-Intent.

A right-side hitter, Diedrich comes to USC Aiken out of Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Fla.

“We are happy to sign another great athlete with a cannon of an arm swing,” mused Cox. “She comes from a high quality club program in Top Select and an athletic family. I expect her to compete immediately.”

Diedrich was named All-Metro and All-State in volleyball as a senior. She produced 428 kills as a senior. She had 42 blocks.

She was also chosen Player of the Week during her senior season by the Orlando Sentinel.

A two-sport star in high school, Diedrich was also an All-State Flag Football player.  Flag Football is a sanctioned Florida High School Athletic Association sport.

In her three years as a member of Dr. Phillips’ Flag Football team, Diedrich obtained 32 interceptions as a safety.

Diedrich joins Alyssa Johnson as Pacer signings for the 2012 volleyball season. Johnson inked with the Pacers during the early signing period in November of 2011.

The duo joins a USC Aiken volleyball team that concluded the regular season ranked 10th in the final NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll.

The Pacers finished the 2011 season with a 15-16 record. USC Aiken closed its year tied for third in the Peach Belt Conference with a record of 7-7.
