Lander Volleyball Signs Seven for 2012-13 Season
GREENWOOD – First-year Lander head volleyball coach Ashley Stathas announced the signing of seven recruits for the fall semester. Among the signees are: Tarryn Angermeier, Spartanburg, S.C.; Sara Bane, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Sarah Bradley, Memphis, Tenn.; Kaitlyn Harrison, Normal, Ill.; Anna Keeling, Houston, Tex.; Kaitlyn Peperone, Memphis, Tenn.; and Ettele Marie Toole, Augusta, Ga.
"I am very excited about the seven recruits that will be coming to Lander in the fall," said Stathas. "I think they are going to be a great addition to the seven returners we have coming back. I can't wait to see what this season brings for Lander volleyball."
Angermeier, a graduate of Dorman High School, was voted the Spartanburg Herald-Journal Player of the Year in 2012, was All-State in 2010 and 2011 and All-Region 2009-11. A three-time All-Academic selection, she was also named the Dorman Female Player of the Year in 2012.
Bane, a 5-10 outside hitter who graduated from Carolina Forest High School, was an All-State selection and the Region Player of the Year. She was a member of three region championship teams and received her team's Attack Award. She was inducted in the Quill and Scroll International Society and was also a member of the Rivertown and Grand Strand Juniors club teams.
Bradley, a 5-0 libero, graduated from St. Agnes Academy. She was voted Best of the Preps and was selected to the TSSAA All-Region team in 2010 and 2011. She earned honorable mention all-state honors during her sophomore season. A four-year Dean's List student, she was a member of the National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and won the Outstanding Performance in Chemistry Award.
Harrison, a 5-9 outside hitter, is a graduate of Central Catholic High School where where she played for Coach Emily Kauten. She led her team to a 31-4 overall record and to the Cornbelt Conference championship. She was named to the All-Cornbelt team and also played club ball for Illini Elite. A member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, she had 239 kills and 313 digs in 2011 and 231 kills and 316 digs in 2010.
Keeling, a six-foot graduate of Cypress Creek High School, is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, Who's Who Among American High School Students and made the All-District team in 2010 and 2011. She also played club ball for the Texas Elite and Skyline Juniors. During her senior year at Cypress Creek, she totaled 145 kills.
Peperone, a 5-10 middle hitter, graduated from Saint Benedict at Auburndale. A 2011 All-State team selection, she is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and was voted Best of the Preps in 2011. She had the most points, kills and blocks on her team.
Toole, a 5-8 defensive specialist, graduated from Aquinas High School and was twice named to the All-Area Team. She was voted her team's Most Valuable Player and was the recipient of the Emile Hummel Memorial Female Athlete of the Year award and the Yearbook Academic award. She served as her high school's yearbook editor twice.
