Feb 15, 2008 Four PBC Women's Cross Country Runners Named to All-Academic Team NEW ORLEANS, LA – Four PBC women’s cross country
runners were recently named to the United States Track and Field
and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA)
All-Academic team. Augusta State’s Kaci McCane and Kara
Kreutzer joined GCSU’s Bonnie Ueltzen and Heather Raines on
the team, which was made up of 202 women’s runners from 99
Division II programs.
To qualify for the individual All-Academic honors, the
student-athlete must have completed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours
and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
The student-athletes must also finish in the top 30 percent of
individual participants at their respective regional cross country
championships.
For Augusta State, Kara Kreutzer was named All-Conference after
finishing 12th at the PBC Championships. The sophomore from
Lilburn, Ga., went on to finish 44th in the NCAA South Regionals as
ASU finished fifth as a team, their highest regional finish ever.
Kaci McCane finished in the top 20 at the PBC Championships and ran
in the NCAA Regional, finishing 70th of the 155 runners in that
event. A sophomore from McDonough, Ga., McCane also competed in
four regular-season meets for the Lady Jaguars.
Bonnie Ueltzen was named All-Conference for Georgia College &
State University after finishing 11th at the PBC Championships. A
sophomore from Blairsville, Ga., Ueltzen ran in all six
regular-season meets for the Lady Bobcats and was the highest
finisher on the team twice. She also ran a team-best and personal
6k best of 24:30 at the NCAA South Regional. Heather Raines
finished 91st at the NCAA South Regional. A sophomore from
Loganville, Ga., Raines ran in four regular-season meets for GCSU
and finished 29th at the PBC Championships.
Seattle Pacific’s Jessica Pixler was named the 2007 Division
II USTFCCCA Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Athlete of the
Year.
